India Brews a Billion-Dollar Triumph: Coffee Exports Surge Past $1 Billion

  • India’s coffee exports hit a record high of $1.28 billion in FY24, growing 12.22% from $1.14 billion in the previous fiscal year, thanks to strong demand for its Robusta beans globally.

  • In volume, exports surged by 13.35%, reaching 125,631 tonnes in 2023-24 compared to 110,830 tonnes the previous year.

  • As Asia’s third-largest coffee exporter, India grows Arabica and Robusta varieties, with Robusta dominating due to its bold flavor and higher caffeine content.

  • Major buyers include Italy, Russia, UAE, Germany, and Turkey, with Europe accounting for a significant chunk of India’s coffee trade.

  • The rise reflects global recognition of Indian coffee’s quality and marks a milestone in the country’s agriculture exports.
