India Brews a Billion-Dollar Triumph: Coffee Exports Surge Past $1 Billion
India’s coffee exports hit a record high of $1.28 billion in FY24, growing 12.22% from $1.14 billion in the previous fiscal year, thanks to strong demand for its Robusta beans globally.
In volume, exports surged by 13.35%, reaching 125,631 tonnes in 2023-24 compared to 110,830 tonnes the previous year.
As Asia’s third-largest coffee exporter, India grows Arabica and Robusta varieties, with Robusta dominating due to its bold flavor and higher caffeine content.
Major buyers include Italy, Russia, UAE, Germany, and Turkey, with Europe accounting for a significant chunk of India’s coffee trade.
The rise reflects global recognition of Indian coffee’s quality and marks a milestone in the country’s agriculture exports.
