40% of Climate Tech Startups in India Helmed by Female Directors
Empowering Innovation: Nearly 40% of climate technology startups in India are led by women directors, according to DPIIT Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
A Thriving Ecosystem: Over 600 startups operate in the Indian climate tech space, focusing on areas like green technology, renewable energy, and waste management. This robust ecosystem fosters innovation and paves the way for a sustainable future.
Beyond Metros: Encouragingly, more than 49% of these women-led startups originate from tier-two and tier-three cities, indicating a geographically diverse and inclusive entrepreneurial landscape.
Supporting Growth: Recognizing their potential, initiatives like the Aavaana-Startup India ClimateTech Challenge aim to provide these startups with necessary support and recognition to flourish and contribute to India's net-zero goals.
"We are witnessing a mindset change, with women entrepreneurs playing an increasingly vital role in addressing climate change challenges," said Singh, emphasizing the importance of fostering and empowering these changemakers.
